Hill Top is considered Beatrix Potter's home in the Lake District. She bought the 17th century cottage in 1905 and it is said that many of her best known characters were created here; the likes of Jemima Puddleduck, Tom Kitten and Samuel Whiskers.
The cottage at Hill Top was left to the National Trust when she dies in 1943 and has been kept exactly as she left it.
