PLEASE CONTACT US ABOUT SHORT BREAKS OR FLEXIBILITY.
Views towards the Solway, the Lake District fells, and the Pennines provide inspiration for a host of wonderful walks - some you can just access from the back door! Geltsdale RSPB reserve, a couple of miles away, is a haven for birdwatchers. Hadrians Wall, a steamer trip on Ullswater or the award-winning Walby Farm Park are just a taste of what there is to explore nearby.
The Hayloft itself is a delightful living space, cleverly restored to retain original features including slatted wooden windows and huge vaulted timber trusses.
The property comprises of an entrance hall, with adjoining WC and utility room, and upstairs to the enormous sitting, dining and kitchen area. Our guests are always surprised by how spacious this living area is. The centrepiece of this space is the Clearview stove, perfect for curling up with a glass of wine after a day out on the fells.
Two bedrooms, both ensuite, lie beyond the living area, one double and one twin. Comfort is ensured with the most luxurious of mattresses. Wake up to views of the garden, with its' magnificent 150 year-old monkey puzzle and wellingtonian trees, and the hills beyond.
A third and equally lovely double bedroom is across the courtyard, separated from the Hayloft by 20 metres or so, ensuite, with a walk in shower room and French windows which take you out to the patio, the perfect corner for catching the evening sun. This room is only made available if there are 6 in the party. Additional relatives to a family of 4, for example, have found it ideal for their holiday situation. The weekly tariff shown is for 4 people - if the 3rd courtyard room is required, in parties of 5 or 6, an average seasonal extra cost of £150 will be charged per week. Please ask owner directly for final cost. Short breaks are available at any time of year - again, just ask owner directly for advice.
The newly refurbished tennis court greets you as you turn into the driveway. Serve up aces against the glorious backdrop of the Pennines. Rackets and balls can be provided, and a lesson too, if desired!
The private walled garden, a riot of colour. especially in late spring, is wonderful to relax in after a day out. Our hens can lay you fresh eggs and if we have surplus veg in season, you are welcome to share.
Cumrew House has recently gone 'green'. A new biomass boiler supplies lashings of hot water and heating. We are now happily fossil-fuel free.
We can help you plan days out - from walks of every kind to Roman museums, golf, clay-pigeon shooting, moutain biking or fishing. And much more. We love letting our guests in on the secrets of the Eden Valley. Many return.
