Low Gillerthwaite Field Centre is situated in Ennerdale - one of the most beautiful, least spoilt and quietest valleys in the Lake District. It is an ideal base for fell walking, classic rock climbs, bird and wildlife watching, mountain biking, orienteering, canoeing (instruction available for groups) and environmental studies. The Centre has group self-catering facilities, 40 seat dining room, drying room, a group lecture room and two lounges with log burning fires. Due to its remoteness the Centre generates its own electricity. Vehicle access is by forest track and a BT payphone is on site (most mobiles do not work here). It is an ideal base for clubs, extended family groups, schools, youth and University groups.
