Leave the M6 motorway at Penrith (J40) and take the A66 beyond Keswick Portinscale and Braithwaite then take a left turn at the sign to Thornthwaite. Follow the signs for ‘The Gallery’ and immediately behind the Gallery car park turn right up the unmade road. Follow the signs to Thwaite Howe.
