66 beds available in a large traditional Lakeland cottage. Great location close to the centre of Ambleside in the heart of the beautiful Lake District National Park

Its a great place to stay in the heart of the English Lakes National Park. Located in Ambleside town its just 4 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside and 7 minutes from the top of Lake Windermere. You can be on the fells in 6 - 10 minutes in most directions and its well located for access to the bigger hills like Helvellin, Scarfell Pike etc if you are a seasoned climber or fell walker. There are many beautiful low level walks right from the front door and its a great base for mountain biking or road biking in the Lakes.
We get many atheletic groups staying as well as individual walkers, cylists , tourists and backpackers from all over the world. There are many restuarants and pubs within 3 - 5 minutes walk and great shoping , particularly for outdoor kit.
Its a fine old Lakeland cottage with many original features including a great lounge, a very good kitchen for guest use, dining room, squeaky floors, prehistoric plumbing, windows that rattle in the wind, a large drying room and the night rate includes light breakfast, tea and coffee, free internet access and maybe some snoring - depending on who is sharing the dorm - but ear plugs are on sale!

Heading North on A591 into Ambleside - at trafic lights at Waterhead bear right, after half mile at second ‘Hayes Garden Ctr’ sign turn right into Old Lake Rd. Hostel is 300 m on right.
If traveling from the North - follow one way system through Ambleside. after you have passed the Salutation Hotel keep on for about 300m when the road will narrow on the left side. Immediatly after the road widens again turn left up Old Lake Rd. hostel is 250 m on left.
